I have seen these magnets everywhere the past couple of months, and I have just fallen in love with them – so I finally sat down to make a few! They turned out so cute, and they were so easy, that I think I might make a million of ‘em!
What I Used:
- clear flat marbles (You can get these at any craft store, and they are about $2 for 18 or so)
- scrapbook paper
- E6000 clear craft glue (You could also just use modge podge)
- 3/4″ magnets
- hot glue
Step 1: Pick Your Paper!

Step 2: Trace around the marbles and then cut your circle out. Each marble is different so you will have to do them all individually.
Step 3: Put some E6000 on the cut out circle of paper and then squish the marble onto it, making sure to push out all the air bubbles. This glue is really rubbery as it starts to dry, so it is easy to peal the excess glue off the marble, as well as any you might get on the table (oops.) Just don’t wait too long because it does eventually get hard, REALLY hard. (The tube says it will take 24-72 hours for the glue to reach it’s maximum strength…after that good luck trying to get it off anything!)

Step 4: Allow the marbles to dry (for an hour or so) and then hot glue your magnets onto the back. (Hot glue really works best in my opinion, I tried using E6000 to attach it, but the glue seeped through my paper and made a funny mark on the front which I really didn’t like, so I’m just guessing you wont like it either…)

Then Voila! You now have your own beautiful custom made magnets! (Now I just have to figure out what I want to do with my magnet board???)

I just found your blog over at Painty and the Brain. Melinda is my baby sister.
I just bought a bag of these marbles and got ready to make my magnets when I realized I was out of glue. Danggit all. Yours turned out so cute!
I just finished a chalkboard, you can check it out on my blog if you are interested.

I have done dozens and dozens of these and there is a much better product than the E600 glue. It is called Jewel It, in the jewelry section. It is really easy to use and has no toxic smell.

Looking for an easy tutorial on these magnets (I tried some and they looked .. eh ..). I have the exact same glue gun as you and there is even stuff stuck to the side. I love it! :)
