I LOVE to crochet! And when I say LOVE I really mean LOVE! There is just something about it that makes me happy…happy…happy….happy….happy….okay, you get the idea! Well, I haven’t crocheted anything in quite a long time, so I decided to pull out my trusty hooks and get started on something. I found this really neat pattern for a crocheted basket (get the pattern here) and I decided to give it a try, and a truly amazing thing happened. I finally figured out how to crochet in a round! I don’t know why (or how) this particular crochet skill has been so difficult for me to understand, and now that I “get it” I feel a bit foolish about it because it truly is a simple technique. The key for me was to “mark the first stitch on each row”. Hello, I’ve heard that before—-this just happens to be the first time I actually followed the advice and did it. I just marked my first stitch with a safety pin, and then as I completed each row I just moved the safety pin up. As soon as I discovered that my attempt to crochet in a round was working, I put my basket project down and started making these cute little balls. I have tried to make these a few times before and never been successful and so imagine my delight when I finally understood the pattern enough to get it to work. I just LOVE them, and I feel like a whole new world of crochet has been opened up to me! I am so excited to see what else I can make now that my brain understands rounds, not just rows!

I finally did try the pattern and made a few balls for my baby boy. I put a bell inside one of the balls and crinkly paper inside another … If you want to see them you can find them here http://muffinsnmore.blogspot.com/2010/04/crocheted-baby-balls.html
I also added a link to your post!
