Well, here I am again…and once again it is Friday. And it is time for Five Minute Friday. If you want to see the rules so you can start writing along, just check out the link right here :) Hope you all have a most fabulous day!
The word for the day is…drum roll….
Ready. Set. Go:
Sometimes I really don’t like the word again. But sometimes I think that there is an awful lot to learn from it.
Today I have to do the dishes. again. I have to make breakfast. again. I have to get my daughter ready for school. again. I could go on, but I think you get the point. It works the same with everything. I think there are very few things in life that we don’t have to do over and over and over AND over again.
One of the hardest things for me me is finding the meaning behind all of the agains. Surely they must be there to teach us something…
I think part of it is patience. But I think maybe it is deeper than that.
Just a few days ago, I was reading Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis. He said something that I thought was very profound, and it seems pretty fitting:
You must ask for God’s help. Even when you have done so, it may seem to you for a long time that no help, or less help than you need, is being given. Never mind. After each failure, ask forgiveness, pick yourself up, and try again. Very often what God first helps us towards is not the virtue itself but just this power of always trying again.”
Sure sounds to me, like there might be a greater purpose in each of those daily things that we have to do again and again. Maybe doing the dishes is teaching us a wonderful lesson. Maybe making mistakes and then realizing it, and apologizing again is what really is helping us along our path. Maybe it isn’t the end result. But the journey.
