Another Purple Shirt

I just love elastic thread! I can’t believe it took me so long to discover it! Anyhow, last week I made another shirt. And let me just say again how much I just love this shirt pattern!

A Nice “New” Old Seat

So, here it is! (drum roll please) My re-covered car seat! Ta Da! I am so pleased with the way it turned out! I wasn’t 100% sure I would even be able to do it, but I am glad I gave it a go. And even though it is far from perfect….it is pretty good for a first timer! Plus, my grandma always says that the little mistakes is what gives your sewing character, and that has always made me feel better when things turn out just a little, um, flawed. ha ha.

(You can click HERE to see what it looked like before.)

I sure hope my son appreciates all the work I put into his seat…he really isn’t old enough to thank me yet—but someday I know he’ll be grateful that he didn’t have to ride around town in a pink flowered chair! ha ha.

Now, what to do about that pink boppy pillow he has been using. hmm. :-)

Sewing Sewing Sewing

I finished another sewing project…and I am so pleased with the way it turned out. This skirt is called the Julia Skirt and it is one of Patty Young’s gorgeous Modkid patterns.  I sewed this skirt up about 10 days ago…and Audrey has practically worn it every single day since. Pretty sure I need to make a couple more….

Freezer Paper is so Cool!

So, I will admit that I never thought too much about freezer paper…until last week when my neighbor showed me just HOW COOL it really is!

Did you know, that if you take a multiple sized pattern and trace the size you want with a permanent marker (be careful not to mark the surface you are tracing on because that pattern paper is a tad bit thin…oops—magic eraser did wonders thankfully—):

and then trace your pattern onto a sheet of freezer paper (draw on the papery side not the shiny side)

that you can then iron your new pattern onto your fabric (and yes it will STICK!)

and make it super easy for you to cut out with scissors. How crazy cool is that!?! Anyhow, if you didn’t know….know you do :-)

The Olivia Top

Oh my goodness!!! I am so excited to show off this cute shirt that I made! I really haven’t done much sewing at all lately…but a few weeks ago my upstairs neighbor came down and showed me some really cute patterns she had just purchased…and it got me all excited about sewing again! This particular shirt is called the Olivia Top and it is by Pink Fig Patterns and well, basically I would like to buy every single pattern that she has. So so so so CUTE! (did I mention HOW cute they are??? :-) )

This shirt was the perfect project to get me back in the mood to sew! I had never sewn with elastic thread before (which is used to sew around the neck & sleeves) and it was really fun to learn and try something new! Also, there are a couple different variations you can do to this shirt pattern—and I already have material to sew up a few more! (Plus I thought it looked super cute with one of the lace flowers I had made pinned onto the front.)

Hope you have a Happy Day!
